PAID OR SELF EMPLOYMENT?

I often hear people say that it is high time they resigned from paid job. Sometimes, they say, “I am tired of this 9-5 enslavement’. Actually, there is a point in one’s life when one has to do something differently, take some courageous steps or make a very dicey decision. Anyone who desires a change must come to this point. Within this context (Employment), This is the point I call the ‘Employment Decision Equilibrium’ or ‘EDE’ for short.
EDE is a determining point between one’s decision either to stay put in his present paid job or resign to self employment. These two employment options, known as employment mode (EM), are determined by a variable factor I call Sense of Independence (SI). A positive or direct relationship exists between Sense of Independence (SI) and Employment Mode (EM). The higher your SI, the more you tend towards Self employment; and the lesser your SI, the more you tend towards Paid employment. This can further be explained in the analytics below:
The SI Assessment Table
The SI Assessment Table contains a list of ten questions that are used for assessment of oneself. The outcome of the assessment will determine the employment mode to which one belongs. Each of the questions carries 10marks (10%) if it is a ‘Yes’. Every ‘No’ answer carries no mark (i.e., 0%). If your score falls below 50%, it will be fair enough to remain within the paid employment (employee) axis but if it falls above 50%, you will be fine as a self-employed (employer). However, if you score exactly 50%, the choice is open to you to either remain in the paid employment or you move to self employment You can take the test below (BUT BEFORE YOU TAKE THE TEST, YOU CAN ACCESS THE INTERPRETATION OF THE TEST QUESTIONS HERE!
Can you now see where you belong to? Isn’t it interesting? Does it affirm your belief about who you really are? Has it cleared the doubt and uncertainties around your employment decision?
Usually, people have premonitions in their sub consciousness about what their EM is; though this might not be as objective as it is in the analytics above. That is why they are not confident to take that bold step. Sometimes, those desiring to move from paid to self employment often feel they need to have all the money in this world to make such a critical move. On the other hand too, those who are self employed, lose confidence in themselves and are often in conflict with the decision either to continue or quit their self employment to pick up a paid job.
I often tell people that taking such a step is like a man making a decision to marry. You do not need to be a millionaire to marry your woman. Yes, you have to consciously plan your life and marriage. However, you do not have to be a millionaire to be a husband. Do you know why? It is not the money that will sustain the home; it may sustain it while it (money) lasts, when it does not flow as before, a problem may arise. What sustains your marriage is your attitude - your attitude to everything including money. When your attitude is right, it is only a matter of time before money starts overflowing to you like a river.
That is why in the SI Table above, you would not find where money is mentioned. What is mentioned is your attitude about turning over your desired or expected income and not how much you presently have saved up for your next business. This is because, with the wrong attitude, there is no amount that is ever enough to start any business. It is not money that creates idea. As a matter fact, money is a brainchild of idea. Nobody came into this world with money. People started making money when they got to the world. Everyone has equal opportunity to be rich. What differentiates the rich from the poor is idea or attitude and not money.
